Santa Clara Golf Marbella is one of the best golf courses in the Costa del Sol, consisting of 18 holes par 71, designed by Enrique Canales Busquets.

A par 71 of 5.922 mts, presents a technically challenging but straightforward and pleasant round, wide fairways with few roughs and open greens without pronounced slope.

About this hole

From tee, avoid the tree, centre of the fairway will make the rest easy. Second shot a short iron to a large green with no obstacles, mouldings in the back will hold back long shots.

It can be played as a par 4 with a long iron to the centre of the fairway and a wedge to the green. Also, it can also be played directly to the green with a driver or a 3 wood. This comes with a risk as you are playing over the river with a blind shot to the green. It’s a controversial hole.

A water hazard is running on the left side of the hole from tee to green. Watch out for the deep bunker on the left side of the moulded green. You will need accuracy for your approach shot. The green is almost 40 meters long.

Play a metal wood to the centre of the fairway. Choose a short iron or a wedge to the elevated green with two pronounced levels. Watch for the bunkers on the right side of the green. Aim for the left side.

Long par 3. Play a long iron or even a metal wood to the centre of the green. Big slopes on both sides of the green. The left side sope is guarded by two bunkers.

Play your tee-shot to the centre of the fairway (wide landings) on this uphill hole. You will need a mid-iron to reach the centre of the elevated green. The left side of the green has a slope and there are also bunkers on the left.

Par 5 dogleg to the right. Reach for the centre of the fairway. Second shot with a mid-iron to the fairway inclined from right to left. Aim your approach at the centre of the long green. There is a slope on the left of the green as well as burikers.

A careful tee-shot to the right side in order to avoid the trees. Only a short wedge left to the centre of the green. Avoid the large bunker on the right side of the green.

About this hole

A technical hole including a water hazard dividing the fairway on the second shot. The hole has multiple playing options, make a plan on the tee. On the second shot try reaching just short of the water hazard. Still the 3’rd shot will be rather long and difficult. With a little luck, the slope by the back will return your ball back.

Uphill tee-shot, try to avoid the tree in the centre. Second shot will need a short iron to the elevated green – be careful, you may need an extra club. The view from the green is spectacular.

About this hole

Avoid the bunkers on both sides of the fairway. Even successful you may have a difficult stance and a long shot ahead of you. The vie is perfect with Marbella Bay and Gibraltar on clear das. This is a signature hole with dramatic winds affecting it. Note, par 4 for men and a par 5 for ladies.

About this hole

This is a long hole, appreciated by the tour professionals. Avoid the water hazard on the left side. Play the lay-up safe reaching the right to left slope. Then aim for the right-hand side of the green without missing on either side.

Technical hole with a pronounced dogleg turning left. A tee-shot to the right side of the fairway is preferred. The green is elevated and protected by a large bunker on the left side. A mid or short iron is left for the green. Watch out as the wind could be a factor reaching the green.

About this hole

Yet another difficult hole. Obviously avoid the water hazard. A fade from left to right could do the job and also avoiding the pine tree at the end of the tee. The green is large but be aware of the lake in the back. Lovely design and nice views with the dub house closing in.
