The 18 holes par 71 of Santa Clara Golf Marbella were inaugurated in 2001. Designed by Enrique Canales Busquets, the course is located a few minutes from the city center and the amenities of Marbella. In addition, an excellent quality in customer service and a careful maintenance of the field, have made Santa Clara a historic golf course on the Costa del Sol.
Since 2017 the field has started a path of reforms that covers several areas, ranging from improvements in its route, started in 2017 and will be completed by 2019, through a new website more dynamic and intuitive for users to a new policy commercial focused on the commercialization of green fees.
Reform of the route
The option that existed in the old hole 3 (par 4) to play directly to the green as a par 3, was lost by the growth of the trees located on the tee. So, in its first phase, started in 2017, the reforms focused on the modification of this hole, which went from being a short par 4, dog leg, of 240 meters to being a long par 3 with the elevated tees of 180 meters. The result is a large golf hole, with an elevated view of the green.
So during the year 2018, Santa Clara Golf Marbella has played as a par 70, playing two pairs 3 in a row: the hole 2 and the hole 3.
The second phase of the change in the route, scheduled for 2019, will undertake the reform of hole 2, currently a par 3 of 198 meters, making it a par 4 of 224 meters. To do this, the starting tees will be delayed and a new green will be built, just behind the old tees of the 3 hole.
With this, the option of playing in new par 4, like a par 3, is retaken, if the player risks playing directly to the green, but he must do it over the stream located in the left part of the hole and without a direct view of the green.
