Santa Clara Golf Marbella proudly reinforced its position as one of the Costa del Sol’s leading tournament venues by hosting two official qualifying events of the IDEAterrazas WAGC Andalucía Circuit 2026, part of the prestigious World Amateur Golfers Championship (WAGC).

Held on 8 July and 25 July, the two tournaments brought together amateur golfers from across Spain and Europe, all pursuing the same dream: earning the opportunity to represent Spain at the WAGC World Final in Malaysia.

Across both events, 20 golfers secured their places in the Andalucía Regional Final, taking one more step on one of amateur golf’s most exciting international pathways.

What is the World Amateur Golfers Championship?

The World Amateur Golfers Championship (WAGC) is one of the largest amateur golf competitions in the world, bringing together players from dozens of countries every year.

Unlike traditional amateur tournaments, the WAGC is designed to give golfers of different handicap levels an equal opportunity to compete internationally. Players first qualify through local events, then progress to regional and national finals, with the ultimate goal of representing their country at the World Final in Malaysia, competing against national champions from around the globe.

For many amateur golfers, it represents the highest level of competition they can reach while remaining amateurs.

Santa Clara Golf: an international stage

With its championship layout, Mediterranean views and reputation for hosting premium events, Santa Clara Golf Marbella once again proved why it continues to be chosen for tournaments with international significance.

Over two qualifying dates, the club welcomed a highly competitive international field, creating an atmosphere worthy of one of amateur golf’s most prestigious circuits.

The quality of play demonstrated throughout both events highlighted not only the strength of the competition but also the growing appeal of the WAGC Andalucía Circuit among golfers looking to challenge themselves beyond local tournaments.
